When Lorri Nichols started her blog for Jon's Adventure, I thought this was a great tool for keeping friends and family informed with his journey. I read it everyday to find out how he and the family was doing. I appreciated the time she took to write each word. I thought that this would be a great thing for me to do to keep all the people that I cared for informed and a part of our life. So here goes.
This is a new year and everyone in our family has been doing something different.
First the year started off with Nadine and I spending the weekend with Becky and Kelsey Oliver on Shaw Island in the San Juan's. What a beautiful cabin they have on the water facing north towards Canada. We played games and watched movies. Becky signed us up for an auction to support the library on the island. We entered the world of the orient and feasted on Chinese food and red wine. The auction had numerous items from 2 weeks in french camp to a tour of the Seattle Art Museum with Mimi Gates. I would of loved going home with the Seattle Art tour but I didn't win. This was the first time in 25 years that Bill and I did not spend New Years Eve together. Bill spent New Years eve with William (the men) at Rich Millers. We all made it to the stroke of mid night to wish Nadine Happy Birthday (she is now 15).
Nadine paged for the Senate in Olympia for the first full week in January. She stayed with Bill's cousin Craig and Sheila McDaniel. They live 1 mile from the capitol and Nadine walked to "work" everyday with Craig. She had the greatest experience. Not only did she get to spend time with her 2ndcousins and form a great relationship with their daughter Kaylin, she rubbed elbows with who's who in politics. Nadine had lunch with Pam Roach and her picture taken with many Senators.
William has decided that he wants to learn how to snowboard. He went up with his youth group from Calvary Community Church. I am nervous but Bill says that I need to stop the helicoptering and let him spread his wings. Still nervous.
January is half over and looks like this is going to be a great year. We are thankful for our friends and family. I would like to wish all of you a great new year.
